Two brothers charged in connection with the shooting death of a Prince George's County police officer are being held without bond, Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Alsobrooks said brothers Malik and Elijah Ford are charged with six counts of attempted first-degree murder, along with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit murder. Charges against shooter Michael Ford are still pending.

Prince George's County Office Jacai Colson was killed Sunday afternoon.

His death marks the third line-of-duty death in Maryland this year, after two deputies were killed in Harford County last month.

Alsobrooks said police continue to investigate the case.

"Fast is not important in this case, accurate is," she said.

Alsobrooks said officers presented a case for second-degree murder charges and use of a handgun as well, but the commissioner presiding over the case did not find probable cause for such charges.

Alsobrooks said she expects to file those charges and present them to a grand jury.
