Baltimore is one step closer to giving police and firefighters more incentive to live in the city.

Monday night the city council passed a bill that would give first responders a yearly 2,500 credit on their property taxes if they own a home in Baltimore City, and it's their primary residence.

The council vote was 13 to one, but there still needs to be one more council vote before the bill heads to the mayor's desk.

Mayor Catherine Pugh says she supports the bill.
