Nellie Weaver, 81, was nearly killed by her granddaughter who stabbed her Sunday morning according to police.

"It's just the situation where the grandmother came downstairs, went into the kitchen. She said that her granddaughter was inside the kitchen  with a knife and she just started stabbing her," said Anne Arundel County police spokesperson Ryan Frashure.

She was stabbed approximately 30 times, doctors at Shock Trauma said. Weaver has been released from the hospital and is recovering with family.

Savannah Weaver, 20, said she stabbed her grandmother because she was trying to cut the demons out of her. She was taken in to custody and taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Police said she was charged with attempted murder and other assault charges.

She is currently being held at the Anne Arundel Detention Center. A bail review is scheduled Wednesday.
