A large storm system continues to churn over the Midwest at this hour bringing over a foot of snow to parts of the Midwest and southern plains. As this storm dies another storm is expected to form along the east coast bringing the threat for MORE snow over New England. The good news is this second storm will form too late for Maryland to see a snow event.
A piece from the Midwest storm however, will move into the state today through the evening commute. Clouds this morning will allow for sleet and snow to fall during the afternoon and evening commute.
Warm air located over the southern USA will continue to move north overrunning cold air that is on top of us now. This think layer of cold air with warming well above us will allow for sleet to fall over the entire state. A gradual change to rain will happen as we move into tonight as another storm will take over.
