Montgomery County bus driver arrested on sexual assault charges

ROCKVILLE, Md. - A 47-year-old bus drive was charged with sexually assaulting a passenger last month, Montgomery County Police said.

Rigoberto Adonay Galindo Lemus, of Olney, was arrested on Jan. 9.

The female victim told police Lemus allegedly assaulted her on Dec. 12 in the area of the Shady Grove Metro station.

Police said she had been walking on Sommerville Road when she passed an out-of-service Ride On bus. The driver of the bus, Lemus, engaged her in conversation and invited her on to the bus to stay warm. The victim accepted and boarded the bus.

The victim told police she and Lemus began talking when Lemus allegedly inappropriately touched her.  The victim then left the bus and, while exiting, Lemus again inappropriately touched her, police said.

Lemus is charged with two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of committing a fourth-degree sex offense.  He was released on his own recognizance on Jan. 9.
