Baltimore students stood tall and help signs with a variety of messages conveying that it is time for a change.

At Franklin High School, they also read out the names of those killed in Parkland exactly one month ago.

Outside of Maryland, students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida also walked out of class.

But not all students were able to participate. Last week, Harford County Public Schools sent out a letter to parents and students saying it could not condone students leaving the classroom to participate in the national school walkout due to safety reasons.
