DC cop to stand trial in death of woman and her baby

Opening statements are scheduled to begin in the trial of a D.C. police officer charged with killing a woman and leaving her 1-year-old baby to die in an overheated car.
Richmond Phillips is set to stand trial Monday in Prince George's County Circuit Court.
He's accused in the June 2011 death of Wynetta Wright, whose body was found in the Oxon Run Stream Valley Park, and of her 1-year-old daughter Jaylin.
Court records show Phillips and Wright were involved in a paternity dispute.
Phillips has been suspended without pay from the Metropolitan Police Department.
