Areas of Maryland flooded and without power

Witness: Flooding 'worst since Isabel'

KENT ISLAND, Md. - Areas of Maryland are feeling the impact of a winter storm bringing winds and rain. Thursday night t housands lost power in Anne Arundel County , and Friday morning brought flooding to Kent Island.

Roads in the area of Mears Point Arena were nearly impassible Friday. Just before noon, water could be seen flowing across several piers, and cars were being towed from the area.

Our crew in the area said they ran into a mail carrier who wished she'd had a boat to make deliveries.

Mears Point Marina manager Bob Wilson says the flooding in the area is the worst it has been since Hurricane Isabel.

All 19 docks at the Mears Point Marina were flooded as of 1 p.m. and Route 18 in the area was closed in several spots because of high water levels.

Earlier in the day Annapolis was flooded up to the Market House. The Eastport Bridge was also closed for about 12 hours between Thursday and Friday. High tide is expected back in Annapolis at midnight, and officials say water levels could again become a problem.

Officials say the Bay Bridge will close if sustained winds reach 55 mph or higher.
