Police keep presence at Columbia Mall

COLUMBIA, Md. - Howard County Police Chief William J. McMahon and Howard County Executive Ken Ullman met with more than 300 mall employees Monday morning prior to the Mall in Columbia reopening.

The mall reopened at 1 p.m. Monday, and police said that there will be additional police presence inside and outside the mall in partnership with the mall security team for at least an additional week.

Following the meeting with Howard County officers, some patrons and employees provided police additional information related to the shooting.  Officers continue to investigate that information.

Investigators continue their efforts to determine a motive in the shooting.  Police say no motive has been established so far.

Chief McMahon encourages anyone who might have additional information to contact Howard County Police.
