Photos of the firefighter using a Wendy's cup to administer oxygen to a dog pulled from a fire went viral on the Internet.
They also served as an indication of what volunteer firefighters in Harford lack.
Members of the Harford County Humane Society say they immediately began to take up a collection. With the money, they purchased three pet oxygen masks for the Level Volunteer Fire Company in Harford County.
Those masks were presented Monday at the fire company's station in Havre De Grace.
"These masks will be placed on our apparatus so, if there ever a need again, we will be fully prepared," said ambulance captain Sandi Gallion. "It doesn't matter if it is a human or a pet. We always do our Level best when it comes to EMS care."
It's a gift that volunteers at Level VFC hope will go a long way.
"Hopefully now with the new mask that we're giving them, they'll have them right there and they'll be bale to use the right kind of thing and won't have to invest something," said assistant fire chief Rhonda Polk.
