Man sentenced for Elkton Acme killing

ELKTON, Md. - Today Troy Kelly will learn his sentence for beating and killing a man at an Acme in Elkton.

43-year-old Kelly pled guilty to some of the charges in the murder of James Peirce in the Big Elk Acme in 2012.

Police say that Kelly struck 55-year-old Peirce multiple times in aisle 8 of the supermarket.  Detectives said they thought Peirce was unconscious by the 5th strike, and found him laying in the middle of the aisle.

Medical attention arrived quickly, but Pierce died at the hospital.

Police say Peirce and Kelly didn't know each other.
