WESTMINSTER, Md. - In its 40th year, the McDaniel College Reading Clinic provides reading and writing assistance to elementary school-aged students enrolled in Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS).
The clinic is run by students in McDaniel College's reading specialists graduate program who are all current full-time teachers in Carroll, Howard, Frederick County and Montgomery counties, as well as south-central Pennsylvania.
This summer there are 17 current graduate students working with 58 children, all Title I students, from Cranberry Station, Robert Moton and Elmer Wolfe elementary schools in Carroll County.
In conjunction with this year's theme, "literacy in our world," which focuses on how everyone has special talents, therapy dogs (affiliated with
http://www.kpets.org/) visited with the children Friday at Cranberry Station Elementary to share their expertise and the children will be read to the dogs.
