3-alarm Baltimore fire caused crews to evacuate

BALTIMORE - UPDATE:   An early morning fire caused part of a three story building to collapse.

Firefighters were called to the intersection of North Calvert and East Read streets just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Fire engulfed the first, second and third floors of the brick building, forcing crews to evacuate and call a third alarm.  Firefighters brought it under control just before 2:30 a.m.  Fire investigators and arson detectives were on the scene.

The first floor of the building was used for office space.  The second and third floors were used as apartments.  An MTA bus was brought in to provide shelter for people that lived in the building.

No injuries have been reported.
