Anonymous donor makes pet adoptions free in Anne Arundel County

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - If you're looking to adopt a new pet, the luck of the Irish is with you this week.

You could say that Saint Patrick's Day is going to the dogs and cats!   An anonymous donor, who some say is the center's lucky leprechaun, is covering all standard adoption fees for approved adopters at the Anne Arundel County Animal Control from Tuesday, March 12, through Saturday, March 16th.

So now through Saturday, if you meet county standards, you can take home a dog or cat, for free.  The shelter wants to help homeless animals find "the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" with this deal and says that potential adopters should bring a leash and collar for dogs or a carrier for cats.

While ABC2 was at the shelter we ran into Lance Miller.  He started looking at adopting a second dog last week, but it didn't get along with his current dog.  That misfortune turned lucky for him, "if they are going to pay for it, that would be a wonderful opportunity!"

There are thousands of animals in Maryland looking for a forever home.
