Opening of the fourth MedStar PromptCare Urgent Care Center

PIKESVILLE - MedStar Health, the largest healthcare provider in Maryland and the Washington, D.C., region, is opening its fourth MedStar PromptCare urgent care center, a 4,000 sq. ft. facility at 1419 Reisterstown Rd. in Pikesville. The center opens July 17 and operates from 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to 4 pm on weekends. It is staffed by emergency and family medicine specialists to care for injuries and illnesses that are not life threatening.


"We are very pleased to bring our urgent care services to this community," said Bob Gilbert, president of MedStar Ambulatory Services, "This new facility is another demonstration of our commitment to delivering quality healthcare services close to where people live and work. We will continue to assess where there is a need for this type of care and make it accessible."


MedStar PromptCare provides convenient access to medical care for all ages with day, evening, and weekend hours. Physicians are always on site. MedStar PromptCare services include:


o    Treatment for injuries and illnesses that are not life threatening, such as:

o    Colds, coughs

o    Fevers

o    Stomach aches

o    Asthma and allergies

o    Sprains, strains

o    Broken bones

o    Sutures for cuts and wounds

o    Neck and back pain

o    Bug bites and skin rashes

o    Physicals (sports, camp, pre-employment)

o    Flu shots (seasonal)

o    Concussion evaluations

o    X-ray services

o    Laboratory services

o    Pharmacy services


Individuals experiencing life-threatening symptoms should call 911 immediately.  

As part of the MedStar Health system of care, the center is connected to MedStar's electronic medical record (EMR), which means doctors can access a patient's current health information from any other hospital or physician office that is on the MedStar EMR.
