Teen arrest for carrying knife in school

STREET, Md. - A Harford County teen is facing charges after bringing a pocket knife to school.

According to Edward Hopkins, spokesperson for the Harford County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened on Monday, early in the school day at North Harford High School.

Hopkins says Michael Baynes, 18, was arrested for carrying a small folding knife in school.  Someone at the school found Baynes walking the halls when he was supposed to be in class and took him to the main office.  There they decided to search him and when he emptied his pockets they found the knife, which has a blade shorter than 3" long.

Baynes was taken to the county detention center and later released.
