JARRETTSVILLE, Md. - A Harford County Sheriff's deputy is recovering after being involved in an accident and shooting at a suspect.
It all started in Jarrettsville, and ended in White Hall in Baltimore County.
Authorities say William Redding Harvey hit Deputy First Class Christopher Behles undercover car.
As Deputy Behles was talking to Harvey, the car took off. The deputy was fell off balance and escaped with only minor injuries.
Deputy Behles, in fear for his life fired his service weapon in an attempt to stop the threat.
As Harvey fled the area at a high rate of speed, he attempted to make a turn onto a side street when he lost control, causing his SUV to roll over.
Harvey was released from the hospital Tuesday at 3:30 a.m. and was immediately taken into custody on an arrest warrant charging him with 2nd degree assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction and hindering, and failure to obey a lawful order of a police officer.
Deputy Behles, 37, has been with the Sheriff's Office for 8-years and is currently assigned to the Violent Street Crimes Unit. He has been placed on administrative leave.
