Reisterstown man accused of killing wife, setting home on fire
12:27 PM, Jan 30, 2014
REISTERSTOWN, Md. - A 41-year-old Reisterstown man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife last month.
Baltimore County Police allege Anthony Paul Rutherford of Fox Run Court killed his wife, Kendra Michelle Rutherford, and set fire to the home to cover up the crime.
Officials said on Dec. 8 at 3:09 p.m., police and fire personnel responded to the Rutherford home for a report of a house fire. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found Kendra Rutherford unresponsive on the first floor. She was transported to Northwest Hospital where she was declared deceased.
Fire Investigators determined that the fire in the home had been deliberately set.
On Jan. 24, Mrs. Rutherford's death was ruled a homicide by means of asphyxiation by the Medical Examiner. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Anthony Paul Rutherford.
He was taken into custody and faces an arson charge on top of the murder charge. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
