Police investigate York Rd. shooting

BALTIMORE - Baltimore City Police are investigating an early morning shooting that involves on of their own.

Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a release that around 2:00 a.m. Sunday an officer on patrol in the 5400 block of York Road came across a large crowd in front of a carry out restaurant. The officer got out of his car to disperse the crowd and got into a physical struggle with a man. Guglielmi said the officer fired his weapon during the fight. 
It is unclear from the statement whether the man was hit, but homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
This weekend, the 5400 block of the York Road corridor has been particularly violent. Late Friday night a man was stabbed to death in front of Rosen's Liquor Store located just steps away from Saturday's incident.
