Police arrested a Baltimore man who allegedly struck and killed a City employee in front of City Hall.
Police identified the driver of the 2000 Acura that slammed into Matthew Hersl as he was leaving work Tuesday as Johnny Johnson, 43 of Baltimore. Johnson was arrested on numerous charges including, manslaughter by automobile, homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and multiple drug charges. Police say there is evidence that Johnson had drugs in his system at the time of the crash.
He was arrested without incident Monday afternoon as he walked to his house. He is currently being processed and held at Central Booking in Baltimore, pending an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
The investigation is still ongoing.
