Man arrested trying to rob prostitute

LINTHICUM, Md. - Police arrested a Pikesville man they believe was trying to rob a prostitute in Anne Arundel County.

Steven James Gravley Jr., 27, was arrested after arriving at a hotel room with a BB gun in his waist, wearing a shirt with an embroidered gold badge on the front.

Police said Gravley thought he was meeting a prostitute he met on the internet. Instead he got an Anne Arundel County police detective posing as an escort during a sting aimed at reducing prostitution in Linthicum and Hanover hotels.

After he was arrested, police discovered Gravley had no money, leading detectives to believe he came to the hotel room intending to rob the prostitute he agreed to meet.

Police charged Gravley with attempted robbery, police impersonation, and prostitution.

In addition to Gravley, the sting resulted in six more arrests of men on prostitution charges.
