Ferndale Volunteer Fire Dept. member arrested on child sex charges

FERNDALE, Md. - An administrative member of the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department has been arrested following allegations he sexually abused two children over several years, Anne Arundel County police said.

Preston Lamont Scott II, 31, of the 1300 Block of Pennsylvania Ave. in Baltimore, has been charged with multiple counts of second-degree child abuse, sex abuse of a minor, first-, second, third- and fourth-degree sex offenses, perverted practice, sodomy and child pornography filming sex act stemming from an investigation that was initiated in August. He is being held at the Anne Arundel County detention center on $22 million bail.

Police said its investigation uncovered Scott had allegedly abused the children known to him over a six-year period. The identity, ages and relationship between Scott and the victims is not being released to protect their identity, police said.

Police said Scott's role at the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department included organizing their monthly teen dance fund raiser. Investigators stressed that there is no information that Scott had inappropriate contact with any child attending these dances.

Police also that that the volunteer Fire Department is aware of Scott's arrest and has been cooperative with investigators. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact police at 410-222-3479.
