Burglary suspect crashes car, dies during police chase

HANOVER, Md. (WMAR) - A burglary suspect is dead after police say he crashed into a tree while trying to flee from officers.

Howard County Police were called to a commercial burglary on Dorsey Run Road early Thursday morning, but when they got to the scene the suspect jumped in his car and drove away. Officers began to chase the suspect until they lost sight of him on Race Road.

Investigations show the car was going southbound on Race Road when it failed to successfully go around a right-hand curve. The car then crossed the center line and hit a tree on the opposite side of the road.

The driver of the car, Mohammed Jennai, was declared dead at the scene. Officials say his excessive speed was a contributing factor to his death.

Anne Arundel Police are taking the lead on the investigation since the car crashed in their area.
