Anne Arundel police to host community meeting following Odenton shooting

ODENTON, Md. - Anne Arundel County Police announced it will hold a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in the wake of someone shooting into an Odenton home Monday which left a 19-month-old injured.

Police said the meeting will take place at Waugh Chapel Elementary School, located at 840 Sunflower Drive. Anne Arundel Western District Capt. Herbert Hasenpusch is expected to host the meeting along with detectives involved in the case.

Residents are concerned after the infant girl suffered minor injuries from glass fragments after someone fired shots into a home on the 600 block of Cadbury Drive.

Police said the homeowner, a 25-year-old male, told officers someone fired shots through his front window. The victim, his 26-year-old wife and their three children (a 7-month-old girl, a 19-month-old girl and a 4-year-old girl) were inside of the home at the time of the incident

The 19-month-old child was treated at the scene for minor injuries.  There were no other injuries reported.

Witnesses told police that they saw someone running from the scene with some type of long weapon in his hands and fleeing in a vehicle, possibly a maroon/red/burgundy Ford Crown Police said the incident does not appear to be random in nature.

Police added that there will be an increased police presence in the community.

The suspect in the shooting is described as a black male, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot with a slim build, wearing dark-colored jeans, a two-tone jacket (gray with black-colored shoulders) and a black, knit winter cap.
