VATICAN CITY (AP) - Cardinals from around the world who have gathered at the Vatican to elect a new pope have yet to decide when their closed-door conclave will start.

SLIDESHOW | Pope Benedict through the years

The first pre-conclave meeting Monday is being headed by the dean of the College of Cardinals Cardinal Angelo Sodano . He has said the date for the papal conclave won't be set until all cardinals are in Rome, meaning a definitive date may not come Monday.
The function of the preliminary meetings is to help cardinals get to know one another and discuss the problems facing the church. Topping the agenda: Vatican scandals, Benedict's remarkable decision to resign and efforts to keep Christianity relevant in today's world.
