ODENTON, Md. - More than 10 apartment were damaged following a three-alarm fire Friday in the Seven Oaks community in Odenton.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials said the fire was reported just after 10 a.m. The first units to arrive on the scene reported visible fire and smoke coming from the third floor of a garden apartment unit and they quickly requested additional resources to the scene.
In all, it took 68 firefighters from Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Howard and Fort Meade Fire Departments about 3 hours to bring the incident under control. Some residents who were home at the time of the incident were able to escape without injury prior to arrival of crews although the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation and no estimate of damage has been given.
It is unknown at this time how many people will require relocation however, the Red Cross and the property management company were both on scene to assist. No injuries have been reported. Fire officials said due to the age of the building that it was not equipped a with fire sprinkler system.
