ARNOLD, Md. - At least one person was killed in a crash near Anne Arundel Community College Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened before 11 a.m. near the intersection of College Parkway and Shore Acres Road in Arnold, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
Four cars were involved and one person was killed, police said.
The person that was killed has been identified as 77-year-old Patricia Ann Krzeminski from Annapolis.
Police say Krzeminski was driving her 2002 Chrysler Sebring when it drifted across the centerline and traveled into the westbound lane striking a second vehicle. The Sebring then traveled approximately 100 feet and struck a third car. The driver of a fourth vehicle struck the Sebring after attempting to lock their vehicle's breaks to avoid a collision.
Police say one driver 29-year-old Zahid Ali Syed of North Annapolis, was flown to Shock Trauma where he was admitted in critical condition. Another driver was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.
Anne Arundel County Police believe that there is no evidence to suggest excessive speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash.
There was evidence that suggested Krzeminski may have suffered from some type of medical condition that caused her to lose control of her car, police said.
College Parkway was closed in both directions in the area while rescue crews cleared the crash and officers investigated.
