Salisbury U. campus locked down for manhunt

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University was placed under lock down Wednesday as authorities searched for a man who is wanted in connection with injuring two police officers near the campus, officials said. 

Salisbury man Edwin Lamont Fletcher, 31, (pictured) is wanted for attempted murder by Wicomico County authorities. 

Salisbury Police announced the investigation on Twitter : “Officer involved shooting investigation under way in area of Parker Place. Multiple jurisdictions involved in investigation @ this time” The message was posted at 9:50 p.m.

Authorities said a Wicomico County deputy and a Maryland State Police trooper were transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for injuries that are not gunshot wounds, according to WMDT, the ABC affiliate in Salisbury. Officials said no one was shot in this incident.

University students were told to seek shelter in an emergency alert email sent out by Salisbury Police to the student body.
