A low pressure system located about 850 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to produce showers and thunderstorms to the west of its center. This system has the potential to become a tropical depression before it moves west-northwestward into a drier / more stable air mass during the next day or two.
We'll continue to monitor this system as it gets closer to the United States. It has a lot of forces working against it, but it has a punchers chance at being an issue for the US. Be sure to check back on our hurricane webpage later this week.
