A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for the Baltimore area around 10:44 am due to the threat of damaging winds. Around 11:15 am, emergency management began reporting storm damage near Highlandtown and the Dundalk area.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are issued when storms have the opportunity to damage property or harm the public. These threats usually come with damaging winds or large hail, both of which are possible with severe storms.

**This afternoon the winds above the ground were moving at 60+ mph around the time the storms arrived. This created favorable conditions to bring strong winds down to the surface, which took place in Dundalk. So far there are no reports of injuries.**

Anytime severe weather strikes, we have an up to the minute severe weather alerts page, to warn you of hazardous weather approaching the Baltimore area. We also have the Storm Shield app, which is useful during the severe weather season.
