Multiple tropical systems are churning up the ocean, the most significant of which may brush Maryland over the long weekend.
Already, we have powerful Hurricane Gaston churning in the central Atlantic Ocean, sending powerful swells out in all directions.
Add to that the much closer (albeit weaker) Tropical Depression #8 parked off eastern North Carolina, set to slowly drift off the Maryland coast through late in the week.
Finally, the much larger Tropical Depression #9 appears to be intensifying and on a track to cross over Florida and run up the East Coast, eventually brushing the Mid-Atlantic coast by Saturday evening or so.
Add it all up and you have all the makings for a rough ocean over the Labor Day weekend in Ocean City and across Maryland's beaches, with potentially large surf, tricky rip currents, and beach erosion to boot.
If you are planning to visit the beach this weekend, please be sure to pay extra attention to the your local lifeguards and beach patrol!
