Looming severe weather outbreak

Severe weather season is underway with a major severe weather outbreaks anticipated Tuesday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a Level 4, or moderate risk of severe storms, for the Central Plains.

This means the majority of the storms will have an opportunity to become severe, producing damaging winds and tornadoes (some of which could be strong & long lived). The threat will continue into Wednesday for portions of the Midwest and southern states.

Impact on Maryland

Maryland will avoid the worst of this weather system. We'll have the chance to see some storms today, which could become strong at times. The SPC currently has us under a 2 - Slight risk of severe weather.
