As of 9 pm on Tuesday, Irma is a category 5 hurricane with max sustained winds of 185 mph, moving westward at 15mph.

Irma is expected to remain a major hurricane again as it approaches Puerto Rico with dangerous winds, heavy rain, storm surge and rough surf are expected across the entire Caribbean.

It is way too early to determine what direct impacts Irma may have on the US. Regardless, everyone in hurricane-prone areas should ensure that they have their hurricane plan in place as we are now near the peak of the season. All the latest model trends are pointing towards Florida as the potential landfall location.
