Groundhog Day: Early spring or more winter?

Happy Groundhog Day!

On this 2016 Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow which means there will be an early start to spring. Since the 1800s, 1887 to be exact, Phil's verdict makes it only the 18th time that he has not seen his shadow.

My prediction is a contradiction of Phil's prediction. I actually predict winter to continue in the Mid-Atlantic as cold air and the possibility of snow will hang around into the beginning of March. There could be a last push of winter, as we head into late February early March, with a late-season snow storm taking shape.

As I always say, don't sleep on March, it is a wild card! As it stands right now, it looks like the wild card may be played this March.

Until then, we will just have to wait and see. If Phil is correct, you will be basking in the warmth of spring. If I am correct, you will be stocking up on more food and dusting off your shovels and/or snow blowers. Either way, I will be here with guiding you through it all!

Stay Tuned!
