The last time Maryland had temps in the 100s was four years ago in 2012. This weekend, we'll have an opportunity to reach the century mark again.
A large ridge and area of high pressure is developing over the the Central Plains & Midwest this week. This setup is creating some impressive heat in those areas where several locations are under an excessive heat warning due to heat indices near 110°+.
Eventually, this pattern will shift east, bringing some of this excessive heat in our direction for the weekend and beyond.
At this point a Code Red appears likely for the weekend - possibly extending into next week.
