The hottest temperatures of the season arrived yesterday as we kicked off the beginning of a heat wave. Yesterday was the third day in a row of temperatures 90 degrees or higher. Therefore, by definition we are now in a heat wave. Temperatures will remain in the 90s into the beginning of next week.

Not only has Maryland experienced the hottest temps of the season but we have been experiencing some very oppressive conditions with dew points in the 70's and low 80s. The high heat and high humidity has prompted Heat Advisories over the past couple of days. Air Quality Warnings have also been issued over the past few days because the air has been unhealthy due to the stagnant air, high heat and humidity.

Relief is on the way because the heat wave will break on Tuesday. A cold front should push through Monday night allowing temperatures to drop into the mid to upper 80s by Tuesday.

Say hello to July summers in Maryland!
