A serious accident on the Bay Bridge is causing major delays for beach goers Saturday afternoon.
The Maryland Transportation Authority tweeted at 1:23 p.m . that all lanes are open in both directions, but warned drivers to still expect major delays.
The westbound and eastbound spans of the bridge were closed as investigators and emergency crews cleared the scene of a head-on crash that happened around 11:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes.
The Maryland Transportation Authority said there was a four mile delay on the east and westbound spans due to the crash.
Eastbound lanes reopened just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Westbound lanes reopened an hour later, but delays will remain for some time, officials say.
