Towson signs four Marylanders to football team

Towson University head football coach Rob Ambrose announced the signing of 14 players to attend the university and begin playing in 2016. 

The class includes two mid-year enrollees and 12 incoming freshman, including three from Maryland. 

Among the incoming freshmen is Calvert Hall wide receiver, Morgan Scroggins. Under coach Donald Davis, Scroggins earned honorable mention private school all-state honors after catching 61 passes for 522 yards and five touchdowns as a senior. He capped off his senior year with a win over Loyola Blakefield in the Turkey Bowl. Scroggins was selected to the MIAA All-Conference team and participated in the Maryland Crab Bowl.

Andrew Garnett is an offensive lineman from Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He played at Riverdale Baptist High School for head coach Caesar Nettles. Garnett earned second-team private school all-state honors as a senior and was selected to play in the Maryland Crab Bowl. As a junior, he helped the Crusaders to an 8-2 record and made first-team honors. 

Anthony Whigan is an outside linebacker from Great Mills High School. He earned big school second-team all-state honors as a senior and was selected to play in the Maryland Crab Bowl.

Nick Gray is a wide receiver from Morganza, Md. He joins the Tigers as a mid-year enrollee. He attended Chopticon High School where he earned first-time all-conference honors after catching 61 passes for 928 yards and seven touchdowns. 

The other mid-year enrollee is linebacker Robert Heyward from Savannah, Ga. The other signees are Jabari Allen, wide receiver from Spotsylvania, Va.; Bryce Carter, outside linebacker from Steelton, Pa.; Christian Johnson, defensive back from Shenandoah Junction, W. Va.; DyMelle Parker, outside linebacker from Camden, N.J.; Nico Russolillo, offensive lineman from Frisco, Texas; Noah Staub, wide receiver from Hanover, Pa.; Ryan Stover, quarterback from Fort Washington, Pa.; Jamal Watson, cornerback from Charlotte, N.C.; and Deshaun Wethington, running back from Suffolk, Va.
