Viking Classic washed out again on Friday

Last Update: 10/30 11:39 am

The first round of the Viking Classic was washed out for the second consecutive day on Friday, as Annandale Golf Club is unplayable.

The plan is to start the first round at 8:20 a.m. (et) Saturday morning, but bad weather in the forecast for most of Friday and into Saturday. The course is under water after Thursday's storm, and two additional inches are expected to fall on Friday, so Annandale may not be ready on time Saturday.

This marked the first time consecutive rounds were postponed on the PGA Tour since the 2005 BellSouth Classic. That tournament was cut to 54 holes and won by Phil Mickelson on Monday.

There has been no formal decision as to trimming the championship to 54 or 36 holes. Some play on Monday is almost a given at this point, and with no event scheduled next week in the U.S., the championship could move into the week.

Much like Thursday, tournament officials pushed back original tee times in an effort to play. On Friday, tee times were delayed three hours before the final decision to call the action prior to the round commencing.

Will MacKenzie is the defending champion.
