Looking for a winter weekend getaway or just a day on the slopes? Here's a list of the ski resorts closest to Baltimore.

Wisp Resort

Wisp Resort is Maryland's only ski resort. With a summit base of 3,115 feet and a vertical drop of 700 feet, the resort offers 172 skiable acres. Close to Maryland's largest fresh water lake, Deep Creek Lake, several trails offer views of the lake, making the resort a mini-Lake Tahoe on the East Coast. 

Trails: 34, 3 terrain parks

Hours: Sunday through Monday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

  • Standard Days: $59 adults; $49 juniors (6-12yo)
  • Premium Days: $79 adults; $59 juniors
  • Monday Deal Day: $49 lift ticket valid from 9 a.m - 5 p.m., equipment rental and 1-hour group clinic

Liberty Mountain Resort

Liberty Mountain Resort offers 100 acres of skiing and snowboarding with a vertical drop of 620 feet and an elevation of 1190 feet. The natural division of terrain allows for an expansive beginner area perfect for first timers and children. Likewise, there's plenty of trails for advances and expert skiers on the backside with dedicated chair lifts. 

Trails: 16 (longest run 5,200 feet); 3 terrain parks

Hours: Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday through Sunday 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Cost: Learn to ski/snowboard and mountain packages include lift tickets, rentals and a lesson.

Other amenities: In the winter, Liberty offers snow tubing and ice skating as well as lessons for all ages, child care and a full retail shop. Liberty Mountain Resort is a true four season resort with 116 hotel rooms. The resort has a golf course as well as two indoor simulators. There's also conference spaces and banquet spaces for special events.

Snowshoe Mountain

Showshoe Mountain is sometimes called the "upside-down" ski resort because the lodges and main village are on top of the mountain. At Snowshoe you'll be able to take your first run all the way down before ever getting on a chairlift. The resort offers 256 skiable acres. With 180 inches of annual snowfall and state-of-the-art snowmaking, Snowshoe guarantees more open terrain than any other ski mountain in the Southeast.

Trails: 57; 5 terrain parks

Hours: Monday through Sunday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Cost: Window lift tickets are $99 on peak season weekends

  • Feb. 21-28, the resort will be offering its Ridiculous Pass. It gives skiers unlimited access for the entire 2017-2018 season as well as March of 2017 for $229 plus tax. Also, each Ridiculous Pass will come with one free kid's pass (age 12 and under).

Roundtop Mountain Resort

Roundtop Mountain Resort is just a quick drive up I-83 North from Baltimore. Offering easy, more difficult and most difficult terrain, plus two terrain parks, there's something for skiers and snowboarders of every level. The mountain has a summit elevation of 1,400 feet and a vertical drop of 600 feet.

Trails: 19; 2 terrain parks

Hours: Daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Camelback Mountain

Camelback Mountain offers 162 skiable acres, a summit elevation of 2,133 feet and a vertical drop of 800 feet. The ski-in, ski-out Camelback Lodge has 453 rooms and the No. 1 indoor water park in the country.

Trails: 30; 1 terrain park; 1 progression park

Hours: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Sunday 8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Cost: $53 weekdays; $67 weekends

Other amenities: The biggest snow tubing park in the U.S. with 42 lightning fast tubing lanes, plus a laser light show every night at 5 p.m. called Galactic Snow tubing. The Appalachian Express Mountain Coaster runs every weekend during the winter for those who want to ride the mountain without skiing or snowboarding.

Blue Mountain Resort

Blue Mountain Resort offers Pennsylvania's highest vertical, varied terrain, and some of the longest runs. The resort offers 164 skiable acres with a 1,082 foot vertical drop.

Trails: 39; 6 terrain parks

Hours: Monday through Sunday 8:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Cost: 

  • 8-hour adult: weekdays - $55; weekends, holidays - $70
  • 8-hour youth (6-12yo): weekdays - $45; weekends, holidays - $55
  • Night ticket: $40
  • Sunday Night Special: $30 

Other amenities: Snow tubing with family tubes, allowing up to five people to go down the hill together in one tube.

Whitetail Mountain Resort

Whitetail Mountain Resort offers 122 skiable acres with a summit elevation of 1,800 feet and a vertical drop of 935 feet. Whitetail also features the area's only high speed quad lift. All trails are lit for night skiing and have snowmaking capability.

Hours: Daily 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Other amenities: The base lodge just received a $9 million expansion and now offers four eateries and a new full service restaurant. The resort offers rental equipment and one of the best ski.snowboard schools. For those not ready to hit skis or board, snow tubing is offered mid-week and on the weekends.

Seven Springs

Seven Springs is Pennsylvania's largest four season family resort. The resort features winter fun for the whole family from skiing, to snow tubing to spa treatments. With an elevation of 2,994 feet, a vertical drop of 750 feet, and 285 skiable acres, there's something for skiers of all levels. TransWorld SNOWboarding ranked Seven Springs No. 6 in North American terrain parks and No. 1 terrain park on the East Coast.

Hours: Sunday though Wednesday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.
