Towson University men's lacrosse team pulled off the upset against Charles Street rival Loyola Greyhounds, 10-8 Wednesday afternoon.
Both teams entered the contest undefeated. The Tiger's defense held Loyola to just three second half points, while their offense took advantage and found the back of the net six times.
The Greyhounds (3-1) maintained the lead throughout the first half. Junior midfielder Romar Dennis scored back-to-back unassisted goals in the second quarter giving Loyola a 5-3 advantage.
Towson (4-0) managed to cut the lead to one with a score from Mike Lynch assisted by Tyler Young. Loyola led 5-4 at the half.

The Tigers dominated the third quarter. The defense was relentless, keeping Loyola scoreless. It was the first time this season the Greyhounds have had a scoreless quarter.
Towson's offense capitalized on the momentum. Junior attackman Joe Seider, who had a game-high four goals, scored in the third quarter tying the game. He scored again in the fourth giving Towson the 6-5 lead.
Seider's two goals were part of a 5-0 run by the Tigers. They increased the lead to 8-5.
Six different Tigers scored. Seider contributed five points, four goals and one assist. Junior attackman Ryan Drenner had three assists.
Loyola fought back to bring the Greyhounds to within one. Tyler Albrecht found the back of the net with a sidearm shot opposite goalie Tyler White. Then Dennis recovered a ground ball. Zack Sirico fed Jordan Germershausen on the crease for his second goal of the game.
Denis, Pat Spencer and Germershausen each scored twice for Loyola, with Germershausen's goals being the first of his career.
McCarthy responded with a goal for the Tigers, increasing the lead to 9-7 with just five minutes remaining in the fourth.
Albrecht won a crucial faceoff for the Greyhounds. Dennis found Brian Sherlock for the goal. Loyola trailed Towson 9-8 with just 4:19 left on the clock.
Towson continued to answer. Tyler Young found Spencer Parks inside for a goal. After that, the Tiger's defensive did the rest. White was huge for the Tigers in the goal, making 16 saves.
The Greyhounds return to Patriot League competition Saturday March 5 when they travel to Holy Cross for a 1 p.m. faceoff.
The Tigers host UMBC Saturday at noon.
