Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Joseph Addai's two-yard run was the go-
ahead score in the fourth quarter and Houston's Kris Brown missed a 42-yard
field goal on the final play of the game, as Indianapolis remained unbeaten by
squeaking past Houston, 20-17, at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Addai ended with 63 yards on 14 carries and Peyton Manning finished 34-of-50
for 318 yards with one touchdown and an interception for the Colts (8-0), who
matched the 1933-34 Chicago Bears for the third-longest streak in NFL history
after posting their 17th consecutive victory.
Dallas Clark posted 14 receptions for 119 yards for Indianapolis, which hasn't
lost since October 27, 2008 at Tennessee.
The Colts host New England in a marquee matchup next Sunday night, and if they
win they will tie the 2003-04 Patriots for the second-most consecutive wins
with 18.
Matt Schaub was 32-of-43 for 311 yards, one score and two interceptions for
the Texans (5-4), who saw their three-game win streak snapped.
Andre Johnson had 10 catches for 103 yards while Ryan Moats recorded a TD
reception and Steve Slaton scored on the ground for Houston, which has dropped
14 of 15 meetings to its AFC South rivals since entering the league in 2002.
The Texans held the Colts to a three-and-out midway through the third quarter,
then melted 6:41 off the clock while going 84 yards to take a 17-13 edge on
the first play of the fourth after Slaton scored on 3rd-and-goal from the one.
Manning was picked off by Bernard Pollard at the Texans' 24 but Houston failed
to move the ball and the Colts jumped back on top on Addai's two-yard run with
7:11 left in the contest. The score capped an eight-play, 61-yard drive.
Clint Session then stepped in front of a Schaub pass and returned it to the
Colts' 40-yard-line with 2:13 remaining, but the home team didn't advance the
ball. Houston got the ball at its own 15 with 1:46 to play and Schaub
converted a pair of third downs, the last one to Johnson which got the
visitors to the Indianapolis 32.
Schaub connected with Jacoby Jones to the 24, then spiked the ball with one
second left. Brown stepped in for a 42-yard try, which he pushed just wide
of the left upright as time expired.
Addai's seven-yard catch-and-run score capped Indy's second drive of the
contest for a 7-0 lead.
Jerraud Powers picked off Schaub near midfield on Houston's following series,
and the Colts turned that into a 10-0 advantage after Matt Stover hit from 22
yards.
Stover booted a 37-yarder early in the second for a 13-0 game, and a potential
late scoring drive for Indy was derailed on Pollard's pick.
The Texans drove across midfield in the waning seconds and Brown drilled a
career-long 56-yarder on the final play.
Houston's opening drive of the second half moved quickly from its own 14, and
Moats finished the series with a one-yard TD catch for a 13-10 game.
