Juan Dixon will return to Baltimore to coach the Coppin State University men's basketball team.
The university made an official announcement Wednesday.
"What an amazing day. I feel like things are coming full circle," he said.
Dixon thanked several people at the press conference, including many of his former Maryland Terps teammates and former coach Gary Williams. "Y'all had a big hand in this as well," he said.
This will be his first Division 1 men's basketball head coaching position. Last season, Dixon coached the women's team at the University of the District of Columbia.
He played at Calvert Hall College High School before leading the Maryland Terps to their only NCAA basketball championship title in 2002.
Dixon also played briefly in the NBA.
