It’s pretty tough to lose when your defense is this good.

Over the first four games of the season, the Hereford Bulls have given up a grand total of 7 points.  Three consecutive shutouts has them undefeated on the year.

“Shutting out a team is a lot of fun,” said Hereford lineman Mike Nash.  “It’s a lot of fun to demoralize a team like that and just know that you’re better than them all around.”

“We’re shutdown in every spot… line, linebackers, DB’s, everything,” said Hereford linebacker/running back Zach Johnson.

“Our defense has been our strongest attribute all year.  Our offense is non-stop as well,” said Hereford linebacker/quarterback Jon Marchineck.

As for the offense, it’s pretty nice to have that security blanket on the other side of the ball.

“It gives us a lot of cushion because if we know teams can’t score on us it takes away a little bit of the pressure to score on them,” said Johnson.

“Knowing that we could just easily go down there, get 20 yards and kick a field goal and win, it becomes so much easier,” said Nash.  “Everything flows a lot better.

This week brings the midpoint of the 2016 high school football season.  One that sees the Bulls travel to Owings Mills to face the 2-2 Golden Eagles.

“Owings Mills is a good team.  They beat Eastern Tech. They look quick, they have their threats with speed,” said Marchineck.

“They’re quick, fast, very athletic. I know they beat a few teams that we also beat.  It’s going to be a good matchup,” said Johnson.

Kickoff from Owings Mills is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
