Franklin football falls in state title game

The Franklin High School football team lost to Damascus 14-12 in the Maryland 3A state championship game Thursday night.

 

The Hornets jumped out to a 14-0 lead with touchdowns each of the first two quarters.

 

The Indians responded before the end of the first half as Joshua Turner ran the ball in from two yards out.  After a missed extra point, Franklin trailed 14-6 at halftime.

 

The Indians got on the board again in the third quarter as Justin Spence ran for a 25-yard touchdown. However, the two-point conversion failed.

 

Damascus was playing without their starting quarterback Wade Rippeon. John Allan Furgeson played quarterback for the Hornets.

 

Franklin ends their season with the record of 11-2.  Damascus wins its second consecutive state title going 14-0.
