It’s all about confidence says Joe Flacco. His team got it back with their latest win. Now he wants to build on it Sunday against the Bears.
“I definitely think it’s going to continue to carry over,” said the Ravens quarterback. “We’re working hard in there and guys are definitely ready to go and want to be involved and make a splash.”
One guy who is still waiting to jump in is receiver Breshad Perriman. The 2015 first-round pick has only four catches for 26 yards this year.
“We got to get him involved and right now there’s not a ton of opportunities out there,” said Flacco.
The Ravens won’t have the services of starting running back Terrance West on Sunday. He’s out with a calf injury. That means the other running backs in the stable will have to step up like they did in last week’s win over Oakland, running backs like Buck Allen.
“He was creating some room Sunday running physical and doing those things,” Flacco said about Allen. “I think he can be big in the passing game once we get the screens going.”
“For him to understand what type of back that he is, his own skill set, what he does best, I think he’s coming into his own that way,” said Ravens head coach John Harbaugh about Allen. “He’s a versatile guy. He’s very smart.”
Defensively the Ravens are set to face rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky on Sunday. He’ll be making his first road start.
“He’s a mobile quarterback. That’s always dangerous against a team like us because we like to show different things and pressures and play man defense,” said Ravens linebacker C.J. Mosley. “We just got to do a good job of trying our best to keep him contained.”
“He’s definitely one of those quarterbacks that can extend plays with his feet. We’re taking all of that into account,” said Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs.
The numbers definitely favor Baltimore. Under John Harbaugh the Ravens are an undefeated 9-0 against first-year quarterbacks at M&T Bank Stadium.
