Ayanbadejo says goodbye to Ravens, Baltimore

BALTIMORE - Brendon Ayanbadejo took to Twitter Thursday evening, thanking the City of Baltimore and the Baltimore Ravens organization.

News of Ayanbadejo's tweet spread quickly, as it meant the linebacker and special teams player would be ending his career with the Ravens after five years -- ending a contract expected to keep him on the team through 2014.

Baltimore Ravens staff writer Ryan Mink describes the departure of Ayanbadejo as "leaving a void on special teams, where he was one of the unit's leaders."

Ayanbadejo played in 16 regular season games for the Ravens in 2012 and totaled 43 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.

Aside for playing football for the Ravens, Ayanbadejo is known for his stance on gay rights.
