BALTIMORE - Ravens wide receiver Torrey smith was a special guest today at Dickey Hall Elementary/ Middle School.
He read the classic “Click, Clack Moo” to the students. Reporters were less interested in the story, and more interested in how he felt about recent allegations of domestic violence against teammate Ray Rice.
Smith said he supports Rice and that he and his fiancée Janay Palmer, are working together to get past this. The focus returned to the kids, and Smith cut a ribbon for “Torrey's Reading Oasis.”
“Education is everything,” Smith said. “I couldn't be here without it. Graduating college may be my biggest accomplishment, but not everyone can make it to the NFL. And even that doesn't last so you have to have a backup plan.”
The reading corner was created as part of his foundation. This project's focus is to improve literacy in schools.
