Towson men's lacrosse defeated Drexel 10-6 sending the Tigers to the CAA championship for the third time in four years.

Towson’s offense was hot right out of the gates. The Tigers won the first three face-offs and scored three straight goals.

Drexel got on the board with two quick goals with just under five minutes in the first quarter, cutting Towson’s lead to 3-2. Rookie Zach Goodrich answered with a goal to extend the Tigers lead, 4-2.

With less than two minutes remaining in the half, Towson’s defense stopped a shot and senior defender Nick Gorman grabbed the ball and launched it to the other end as time expired. The ball hit off the stick of Drexel’s goal and fell in the back of the net.

Gorman's goal gave the Tigers a 6-2 halftime advantage. Towson extended its lead to 7-3 after a goal from Joe Seider, his second on the day.

Goals from Ben McCarty and Ryan Drenner gave the Tigers an 9-5 advantage. Drexel's Jacob O'Donnell brought the Dragons within three.

Brian Bolewicki chipped in a goal, giving Towson the 10-6 victory. Nine different Tigers recorded goals, only Seider scoring more than once.

Drexel kept Drenner quiet. In addition to his one goal, he recorded two assists.

Towson's defense proved too quick for Drexel to gain any momentum on offense. Goalie Tyler White recorded nine saves.

Towson will play in the CAA championship game Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 2 Fairfield at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

The Tigers are aiming for their back-to-back CAA titles. If Towson wins Saturday, they'll receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
