The Terps secured the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten conference tournament which began Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
Maryland earned a double-bye, which means they won't see action until the quarterfinal round. With the high seed, the Terps are hoping to grab their first postseason conference championship since they won the ACC title 13 years ago.
"Everybody's excited. We're still a ways away from when we play, over 48 hours," head coach Mark Turgeon said. "So, your energy level will just keep getting (higher) and our excitement level will continue to grow as we get closer to 9 o'clock Friday night. We're trying to have fun."
"We're excited," junior guard Melo Trimble said. "We know that everyone's 0-0 now going into the tournament and we don't play until Friday. So we get to watch other teams plan and I think we can relax."
The Terps won't know their opponent until late Thursday night. They'll either play Rutgers, Ohio State or Northwestern.
